Brain Dead

I am feeling a little brain dead this week. We have 9 days until we leave for China. We have so much to do that I don't know if we will get it all finished or not. The final paper for the class from hell (also known as biochemistry) is due on Friday. It has to be five pages long and I am currently at 2 and 1/4 pages but still need to cover protein folding and the blood clotting cascade, both things I need to review before I can write about them (please send me smart vibes if you have them because I need all of the help I can get right now). I think that everything I have written so far is probably garbage, but I am getting dangerously close to the point where I just don't care anymore and just want to get it close to the right length. it gives me headache just thinking about it. I have not been doing any school (as in my job) work at home because of the paper so now I feel like I am falling behind in that as well. Grades close for progress reports this week so I will get to spend my weekend catching up on all of that. I need to finish packing, get the guest bedroom ready, and we haven't even started to child proof yet (we do have most of the supplies so we aren't totally horrible parents). I am starting to get fairly stressed out and should really be doing something besides blogging right now.

We have our travel meeting tomorrow. David is out of town so I will be going by myself. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and finding out what our itinerary will be, especially when we will finally get our hands on the kid. Between the recent news of disease and now the earthquake, I am even more anxious to get over there and get her.

I have been so busy that I haven't been able to blog about the wonderful baby shower I was given at work last week. It was very fun and I think that Annika now has enough clothes to get her through the summer and enough beautiful sundresses to set her up for the next couple of summers. Hopefully I can post some pictures before we leave. We also received a nice box of goodies today from my cub scout den.

My parents fly in on Saturday afternoon. Between baseball and cub scouts they will be kept pretty busy while they are here. Thank goodness we have a GPS. We have already programmed a few common destinations for them and will be adding some more. I am going to make them picture directions so that they will be able to figure out how to get the directions that they need.

Well, guess I should go get back into that book and attempt to write something that sounds intelligent. Wish me luck!!!!!(remember, send smart vibes my way, especially if you understand cellular respiration, thermodynamics, kinetics, blood clotting, cofactors, etc., etc., etc.. I think I may be so screwed)

Don't bother memorizing the coagulation cascade. The half-life of the coagulation cascade in the human brain is well known to be 15 minutes beyond when the test ends.

Just start with Factor XIII on one side, Factor VII on the other, have them meet in the middle somewhere, write, "and then a miracle occurs," finish with thrombin and fibrin and you're all done.

As far as last-minute details for the trip, fugeddaboud it. If it doesn't get done, it wasn't important.

Oh, and see you tomorrow at the travel meeting!

I can totally relate. I think I dove head first into "overwhelmed" about 3 weeks ago. Perhaps this will make you feel a teensy bit better....

I have a deliverable due this week too: a 100+ page System Administrator's guide. Wanna swap?? Please?

My due date is Thursday....which would explain why I'm up blogging, I mean working, at 3:30 in the morning.

See you at the meeting tomorrow!

Don't worry about the guest bedroom, child proofing, and all of the other busy work you have on your list!!! Dad and I have two weeks to help out with all of that! We want to feel useful and you know your dad can not sit still- so bring on the busy work!!!

I wouldn't worry about having baby-proofing done before you leave. She's so young that she won't be too mobile yet!
