Red Envelopes

I am planning on sending my neices and nephew red envelopes this year for CNY. My question is what in the heck do you put in them. My plan is a gold dollar (one of the new president ones) and some stickers. Does that sound good?

I am also going to include a letter that explains some stuff about CNY. I am hoping to start a tradition, but don't know what will happen with it.

Hi Carrie - I bought some red envelopes for my older daughter's classmates (Sophie's daycare buddies are still too young to give anything!).

At a local party shop, I found some fake Chinese coins, red rubber bracelets that say things like "Wisdom", "Fortune", "Wealth", etc in English and Chinese, pencils that say Gung Hay Fat Choy (Happy NY), some wooden bead bracelets with Chinese characters, and temporary tattoos with chinese characters for "Love" "Wealth" etc. I'm going to write something up about the holiday and email it to her teacher to read to the class about it.
