BonBon Recipe



Here is the requested recipe for BonBon cookies.

1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sifted confectioners sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
food coloring, if desired
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
Filling: candied or maraschino cherries, pitted dates, chocolate pieces (I use Hershey Kisses)
BonBon icing (after cookie recipe)
Toppings: chopped nuts, coconut, colored sugar

Mix butter, vanilla, and food coloring. Measure flour and salt in a separate bowl. blend flour and salt in thoroughly with hand. If dough is dry, add 1 or 2 tbsp of cream.

Heat oven to 350 degrees. For each cookie, wrap 1 level tbsp dough around filling. Bake 1" apart on an ungreased cookie sheet 12 to 15 minutes, or until set but not brown. Cool; dip tops of cookies in icing. Decorate each cookie with topping. Makes 20 to 25 cookies.

BonBon Icing: mix 1 cup of confectioners' sugar, 2 1/2 tbsp cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and food coloring.

Chocolate BonBon Icing: make BonBon icing -- except add 1 sq unsweetened chocolate, melted, and use 3 tbsp cream.
