Growth Update

We got measurement updates for Ms. Annika today. She has grown about 1.5 inches and gained almost 3 pounds. If her measurements are correct than she is 26.7" tall and 17.6 lbs. I checked the Chinese charts and that puts her at about 75% for height and around 90% for weight.

We redid our fingerprints today for the third time. There was a couple there with a Chinese daughter who is now in the process of adopting from Korea. They went to China in July and didn't seem to enjoy their trip. The woman kept complaining about the food and the language barrier. The man seemed to have enjoyed himself a little more than she did.

I also went to the pediatrician today to have him look at Annika's paperwork. He said that everything looked fine to him and there didn't seem to be anything that we should be concerned about (which is what we thought). He wants to see her very soon after we get back from China and explained the re-immunization process. He didn't seem to jazzed about giving us prescriptions to take along on the trip even though I told him that we would be traveling with a doctor. He was concerned about possible allergic reactions to the antibiotics. I practically promised that we would not use any meds unless we were told to do so by the doc who travels with us and he said he would give use the scripts when we get closer to travel. He also wants to know the name of the doctor who will be traveling with us. After my experience with unnecessary antibiotic over a year ago, I can pretty much guarantee that no one in our family will be taking antibiotics unless they are necessary, although I didn't tell him that.

Well, I took the day off so that I could get some work finished so I guess I should get to it.

Gee, does that (whiny) woman think that Korea will be any different.

Sheesh!

I was a little surprised at the weight info we received today- 17.2 pounds! I asked the agency and they explained that they usually weigh the kids with all of their layers of clothes :-)

Guess we got the peanut of the crowd, weighing in at 14.2 pounds. But I can't help thinking of dd No. 1, who weighed 16.5 pounds at 14 months. Now THAT is small!

I guess 17.6 pounds is a popular number, Gracie also weighs in at that weight!!

17.6 is exactly 8 kg. So if they're rounding off, that's probably how so many of them get to 17.6 lb. The conversion is 2.2 lb/kg. Just a guess...

I can tell you that Sophie's original referral had her at 12 pounds and the growth report later reported 16 pounds. At the medical exam in Guangzhou, she weighed in at a little over 14 pounds at 9 months. Tiny, but her older sister EJ only weighed 5 pounds at birth and 15 pounds on her first birthday.

Sophie is now 19 months, 21 pounds, and finally facing forward in the car seat. I think she enjoys seeing where she's going!

Oh, and if it helps y'all, at 14 pounds, Sophie fit into the 6-9 month clothes pretty well.
