Starting the Nursery

Alex has day camp every morning this week so it gives me some time to work on stuff for the nursery. I am making the crib skirt and window valances. I bought the fabric and pattern last August. This is one end of the crib skirt. It will be box pleated on the sides.

The valences will be green with a strip of the pink fabric at the top (where the rod goes) and bottom (similar to the band on the skirt) and box pleats. You have already seen the quilt. The only other thing we have bought is a butterfly kite.

I still haven't decided what color I am going to paint it yet. I know I want it to be pink, green, or both. I think we have awhile before the whole thing needs to be finished so I am in no rush to do the painting.

I want Alex to be able to contribute to the room so I am going to have him create a picture of a butterfly to hang on the wall. I am also going to ask each of my nieces (who are also 5) to make one and that will take care of wall art.

Love those colors! It's going to look beautiful. Also love the idea of custom-butterfly art (we're big on creating your own art in our family). :-)
